“Today I received my delivery of the cedar wood. Everything seems perfect.
Before retiring, I spent 30 years as the VP of Purchasing. When I started out, I decided to be a decent guy. When things went well, I commended the supplier. And when things did not go well, I didn't have to get nearly as mad, and the supplier knew they did something wrong since Randy never gets this upset.
Well, following my profession, I wanted to tell you guys how good you did. First, Dave, of all the emails I sent to lumber places, no one other than you responded. So good for you. Don't ever slack off on that. A few weeks ago, I came by the yard, and George helped me out. We went through options for me. He got a revised quote, and a few days later I ordered the lumber, which was delivered as ordered. On Wednesday, Mike called to schedule the delivery. Super polite and was flexible with his delivery schedule. He called me while Scott was loading the truck as he said he would. Scott delivered the lumber this morning. On time, polite, and very professional. I even appreciate the extra care to deliver the lumber dry during this very rainy week.
In the world we live in today, few companies do as they say they would. (I can tell you hundreds of stories about vendors who came to my office and promised me that things would be done as I wanted, only to fail on the first order.) I could have easily gone to 84 Lumber in Orchard Park, or Gui's Lumber, or Quaker Millworks and taken the easy way. But you and your staff deserved to be given the business. I have no regrets.
